Approximately 15 cm of snow has accumulated and water content more than doubled since the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority completed its last snow survey in mid-December.
“While snow depths continue to be above the long-term average for this time of year at the three sites we measure, the water content is close to average,” said Joel Harrison, Water Resources Specialist at NBMCA.
According to readings from the North Bay Golf and Country Club the current average snow depth for January 3rd is 36.4 centimetres which is 143% above normal depths for this time
Last year snow depth at this time of year was only 18.9 cm at the North Bay Golf & Country Club which is in the Chippewa Creek Watershed.
Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence in North Bay, Corbeil and Chisholm Twp.
