Snow depth and water content are more than double what they were last year at this time, reports the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority. The organization measures snow depth and water content as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.
“The average snow depth for all sites is 54.8 cm (165% normal) and average water equivalence is 115.3 mm (189% normal),” said Joel Harrison NBMCA’s Water Resources Scientist. The average snow depth was 21.2 cm and water equivalence was 39.3 mm for all sites in 2017.
That's good news for area tourism considering the lack of snow further south,
