Slush gets sledders stuck

The men were not injured but they were very wet and cold

Lake Nipissing can be a fantastic place  to snowmobile, but here's a good sign that it is becoming unsafe for travel

OPP from the Warren detachment got a call last night, as thunderstorms rumbled through the area, from three men stuck in slush on Lake Nipissing.

The rescue took place around 10 p.m.

The trio was located approximately 10 kilometers from shore.  Emergency Medical Services also responded and found the men were not injured but they were very wet and cold.

The OPP is recommending that snowmobilers stay off the lakes. With all the rain recently the lakes are very slushy making it difficult to travel.

The West Nipissing Fire Department also assisted in locating the men.

The OPP is also reminding snowmobilers to expect the unexpected, dress for the weather, ensure your cell phone is fully charged and never travel alone.
