Two “Hero in Life / Police Week” signs will be on display under the two Fred Lefebvre Memorial Overpass signs during Police Week May 14th to 20th.

Ninety-four years ago, on May 18th, 1923, Detective Fred Lefebvre was shot by a fugitive who escaped from the Court House.

As well, a “Heroes in Life / Police Week” sign will be on display in the front lobby at police headquarters to commemorate Lefebvre and Constable Leonard George Slater, who died on December 1st, 1973, after responding to a report of a man with a gun in a downtown North Bay parking lot.

Read details of their stories on the North Bay Police Service’s online memorial page.
