Sixteen grams of suspected Purple H seized in Sturgeon

Some savvy police work in Sturgeon Falls resulted in a very dangerous drug being taken off the streets there.

Early this morning West Nipissing police officers were on general patrol on John Street in Sturgeon Falls when they saw a man walking in the area.

A short time later the officers saw the same man walking out from behind a building. They questioned the man and found his backpack hidden a short distance away.

After searching the man and his backpack, police seized a substantial amount of street drugs and money.

Officers seized:

  • over 16 grams of suspected Purple H (heroine/fentanyl mixture),
  • 13 grams of cocaine,
  • 17 grams of Crystal Meth,
  • over 1,700 methamphetamine pills (speed),
  • 158 grams of marijuana, and
  • over $2,500 cash.

The street value of the drugs is estimated by police at approximately $26,000.

A 42-year-old Sturgeon Falls man, Jean Claude Philippe now faces:

  • five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance,
  • possession of property obtained by crime and
  • breach of Probation.

Police have warned those that are using street drugs to use extreme caution as Purple H is extremely potent and potentially fatal.
