Shoreline restoration at Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area

'Flooding in 2019 caused substantial erosion along the water’s edge at Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area'

Restoration of the Lake Nipissing shoreline at the Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area began today says the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority.

“Flooding in 2019 caused substantial erosion along the water’s edge” explains Troy Storms, Manager, Lands & Stewardship. “The work being done by Watson Landscaping will improve the shoreline and reduce erosion in the future.”

Silt screen will be installed at the water’s edge and a large rock wall will be built where the existing shoreline was before the 2019 flood. This wall consists of about 30 feet from the southern end of the lakefront side. The rock wall will be backfilled with gabion stone (rip rap) then covered by geotextile fabric and topsoil, then hydro seeded.

This project is scheduled to be completed by this Friday.  The Conservation Area is still open during this work, but you are asked to avoid the work areas.
