Severe Thunderstorm warning issued (UPDATE)

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail

UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm warning ended at 2:40 p.m. as Environment Canada says the severe thunderstorms have weakened or moved out of the region.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for New Liskeard to Temagami and North Bay, Powasssan and, West Nipissing and Mattawa at 2 p.m. this afternoon.  

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail.

Radar shows a thunderstorm near Redwater moving southeastward 50 km/h towards the Quebec border.

Environment Canada predicts this thunderstorm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 90 km/h.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
