September storm causes damage

Storm started to roll in shortly after 6 p.m.

The Thunderstorm caused some damage around the area due to the high winds around 6 p.m. in the North Bay area.

On York Street, a giant tree branch fell onto a driveway and landed on the street, while other tree damage could found in other areas such as Frost Street.

A power outage was reported by North Bay Hydro in the Birchaven area as crews were called in to remove a tree branch off the power lines which left about 550 residents in the area without power for around an hour.

South of the city, the high winds bent hydro poles along Highway 11 in the Powassan area.

Environment Canada issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch this afternoon predicting the area would potentially receive a severe thunderstorm which had the capability of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

The Thunderstorm Watch ended shortly after 7 p.m.
