How will seniors fare getting to the polls for our first winter election since 1980?

Elections Canada has been bending over backwards to make it easy for people to vote ahead of Election Day. However, there are still many seniors for whom transportation remains a major challenge.

How can we be apathetic about casting our vote when over 70% of the people in Iraq braved possible death and destruction to go to the polls?

During the past four elections, we have seen the voter turnout decline significantly. Even held in good weather, the last couple of elections have been hovering around the 60% mark.

Comfort Keepers, a local in-home care business, has chosen to do its part to increase voting turnout among the senior population in this area. Comfort Keepers Caregivers will take seniors to the polls, wait while they vote and then take them home again.

Any senior who needs free transportation to the polls, can call 472-6743 by Monday, January 16 and register for a ride on Election Day.

Comfort Keepers provides in-home (or in-hospital) non-medical care including light housekeeping, personal care, meal preparation, shopping/transportation, companionship, and more. All caregivers are background-checked, bonded and insured.
