Security Guards attacked by angry female patient

26-year-old woman faces numerous charged including three counts of assault with a weapon.

Following an investigation into an assault with a weapon and threat complaint reported to police in the early hours of Sunday morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 26-year old North Bay woman with the following offences: 

  • One count of carrying concealed weapon;
  • One count of uttering threats;
  • Three counts of assault with a weapon;
  • One count of weapon possession for a dangerous purpose; and
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.

It is alleged that on Sunday, May 22nd, 2016, at about 1 a.m., while she was being held for a mental health assessment at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, the accused pulled out a folding knife she had hidden in her possession and proceeded to assault and threaten a security guard. 

The security guard, who was not injured, immediately contacted two other security guards for help. 

The accused then used the knife to stab at two separate doors that security guards were holding closed. 

One security guard suffered minor injuries.

Following her arrest at the hospital, police transported her to police headquarters where she was held in custody for a bail hearing.
