The Seasonal Career Fair attracted employers and eager job seekers Thursday afternoon at Memorial Gardens.

The busy season is ramping up for many sectors, such as retail, winter tourism operators, certain contractors, and others.

The fair is an opportunity for business owners and qualified employees to meet and, potentially, work together.

"A lot of the organizations and businesses, specifically the retail industry, are hiring with the upcoming Christmas season," one of the organizers, Carol Porter of the North Bay Chamber of Commerce told BayToday.

There is a similar event in the spring, although it is much larger. About 40 booths were represented today.

"A lot of hiring is done at that time of year with a lot of people graduating from college or university. Prior to that we have an event called 'Get job ready' and that event gets individuals ready for the career fair and teaches how to dress, speak, act and prepare themselves for meeting with employers and speak about their skills and the type of work they are looking for."
