Callander scienticians prepare to enter the space where science and fun collide, because the Great Northern Ontario Roadshow from Science North is pulling over at Callander’s library on Thursday, August 18th.

The evening event runs from 5:30 to 7:30, at the library on 30 Catherine Street in downtown Callander. The event is free to attend, and all ages are welcome to join the show. Everything will be set up in the library’s back yard, which is where library staff host many of their programs and events.

For this event, the library is providing the space to Science North—it is not producing the show—but “we’ve partnered with them in the past and it’s always been a great experience,” said Melissa Sones, the library’s CEO.

Science North’s Great Northern Ontario Roadshow sets up events throughout the north, and “bring some fun education and events” to people wherever they stop. Each show differs, but Roadshow organizers promise “fun family activities,” including science shows, fun games, and music.

For instance, at previous road show events participants were building Rube Goldberg machines and assembling a race car, and there are also workshops and demonstrations throughout the evening. “We’ve got something for everyone,” organizers emphasized, so mark the date, science fans.
