Blackout warning is 'fake news' says mayor

It appears a prank website is trying to pull a fast one on the citizens of North Bay.

An internet post warns of a city-wide blackout today at noon. It claims almost 70,000 shares of its Facebook page and the picture accompanying the post is actually JarosÅ‚aw Daniel Sellin, a Polish politician, and journalist.

It's not true says Mayor Al McDonald.

"Hello everyone. There is a post out there from a "supposed" media outlet (not North Bay media) implying there will be a city-wide blackout on Monday. THIS IS NOT TRUE for North Bay. This will cause anxiety for those with medical conditions or those with elderly parents. Unless something dramatic and unforeseen happens, it business as usual," McDonald said on a Facebook post.

North Bay Hydro took to Twitter.

"Please note - North Bay Hydro has NO planned outages! Info. Is always posted to Facebook, Twitter and website!"
