Rotary club to host an end polio tag day

North Bay’s Rotary & Rotaract clubs are calling on you to finish the fight to eradicate polio worldwide.

On Saturday, October 20, members from the three clubs will be stationed at select locations across the city from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. collecting donations as part of the End Polio Now campaign. Polio is 99% of the way to being eradicated. Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only three countries where the poliovirus has never been stopped.

While there is no cure for polio, the polio vaccine successfully prevents cases. It only costs 60 cents to protect one child from polio. Worldwide, Rotary has raised more than $US 1 billion to and committed countless volunteer hours to fight the disease.
