Mark Lyons thinks about his son every day.

The well-known autism awareness advocate worked for nearly a year to help prepare for the inaugural Ride for Jack Fat Bike fundraiser which took place in Corbeil on February 25 on McPherson Drive.

"It was over the moon," admitted Lyons, whose son passed away last April.

"It was probably the best event I have ever went to in my entire life. It was just that good.

"Connie Hergott and Rod Bilz did a great job and everyone that showed up said it was one of the most organized events they had ever been to.

"It was awe striking when you looked back and saw all those bikes coming up McPherson Drive, there were no egos, everybody was just having a good time and were thinking of Jack," noted Lyons.

He says more than 10 months of work has been put into this event which honours his son Jack, who passed away last April.

But Lyons says the biggest winner from the fundraising event is the kids. The $12,500 in funds raised will go towards One Kids Place Autism Camps.

"The autism camps are a go and that is really the good news," said Lyons.

"People that were away on the weekend to Florida, they saw the videos and the pictures and they want to come next year."

Lyons says the event exceeded expectations and he is already working towards year two already now.
