Nipissing’s 15th annual Motorcycle Ride for Dad 2022 is set for tomorrow.

This year the event will start at The Village Canadore College.

"Prostate cancer is a needless killer for men," said Andrea McLellan, co-chair of the Nipissing chapter. "The more the community is aware and educated about prostate cancer, the less chance there is to lose the men in our lives to this terrible disease. The Motorcycle Ride for Dad not only raises funds to fight this disease but also gives men and their families a reason to talk about it."

Since 2008, 3,692 motorcycle riders have registered for the local ride.

Every dollar raised in our community stays in our community, say organizers.

"This year we are encouraging all of our riders to try and collect an extra $30 in pledges," says McLellan. "If every participant collected an extra $30 in pledges it would impact our bottom line to the amount of $10,000. We would love to break the $40,000 barrier. Also, with the help of our local and national sponsors $805,000 has been raised for our fight against this terrible disease."

Pre-registration for the event will take place today from 3. until 7 p.m. Motorcycle Club colours and cuts are not welcome at the ride.

Ride Day festivities begin on Saturday morning at 8 with registration until 9:30.

There will be some welcoming addresses at 10 followed by the ride leaving promptly at 10:30.

The poker run will wind its way through the area and end at Canadore College where the first 250 riders registered will enjoy a Pig Roast Dinner by Duchesne Roasters, a silent and live auction, and awards.

Registration for the ride is $35 before ride day and $40 on Saturday.

The Nipissing Motorcycle Ride for Dad is Canada's largest annual motorcycle event dedicated to fighting prostate cancer through research and awareness according to a news release.

The Ride for Dad has grown to include 40 events across the country. Today, more than 100,000 men, women and children have been involved, raising more than $37 million to fight prostate cancer.
