The 2016 Ride for Dad, Nipissing Chapter, is hoping riders and non-riders will come out Saturday June 18th and join the fight against prostrate cancer.

"It's important to everybody," co-chair Ray Yelle told BayToday at a news conference Thursday night. "Prostate cancer and research is something that is ongoing and everybody is affected by it."

Yelle has a personal reason for riding.

"I started in 2008 when the ride came to North Bay. I had a family member that was diagnosed with prostate cancer and I think everybody has a story. If it's not them, it's somebody close to them that's been affected by it so I think we need to continue the fight and do everything we can to combat it."

This is the ninth ride, and Yelle wants to see the ridership increase.

"It's not just about the money, it's the number of people because that creates awareness. So the more riders, the more people will be informed."

He's aiming for 300 but hoping for 500 or more.

Sudbury is the closest place for cancer research, so the money goes towards research projects every year.

The ride takes place Saturday June 18th at the Canadian Tire parking lot on McKeown Ave.

Registration is from 8-10 a.m. with the ride starting at 10:30.
