Area motorcycle riders are organizing a ride for this weekend to raise money and awareness for Canadian Blood Services.
The event was inspired by an accident involving popular local biker Brad Martin, who remains recovering from life-threatening injuries in a Sudbury hospital.

The "Ride For Blood" will take place this Sunday October 2, and organizers are inviting everyone to join them in a ride to Parry Sound. The charity was chosen because of the key role blood transfusions have played in Martin's medical care.
Motorcyclist Jamie McKenney is helping to organize the event.
"Let's get people in the chairs donating blood," McKenny told BayToday.
Riders will meet up at Allmakes Auto Service Plus on Oak St. E. at noon. Registration is $20.
"We'll head out along Lakeshore Drive down Highway 11 and hang a right on Highway 124. It's a beautiful ride on the way to Parry Sound. Then probably take 518 back," he said.
A quick prayer service for Brad Martin will kick of the event. The donation to the Canadian Blood Services will be made in Martin's name.
Canadian Blood Services is a not-for-profit, charitable organization operating at arm's length from government. Its sole mission is to manage the blood supply for Canadians.
