The North Bay Police confirm two males were charged with “cause as disturbance by fighting” in connection with a bizarre incident at Silver Birches Elementary School on Thursday.

Sources tell BayToday.ca that two men entered the schoolyard during lunch recess and began to fight in front of the kids.

The police were called by school staff and the men were arrested and charged.

"Two adult males commenced a consensual fight in a neighbourhood in West Ferris," the North Bay Police stated in a release Friday morning.

"The two males chased each other in the area and continued to fight and swear at each other stopping to fight in different areas, one being a school playground area in front of school children."

David Thompson, the Near North District School Board Chair, says the school sent a letter home with students to let parents know about the incident.  Thompson reassured the parents that no students were involved and no one was injured in connection with the lunch recess incident.
