North Bay Pride and Gateway City Brewery are teaming up together by creating "Real Love" beer.

This is the second year they've teamed up for the limited time fundraiser.

"They did this last year, we sold out, so partial proceeds of 50 cents from every can goes to North Bay Pride to help fund Pride, for things like insurance and all those wonderful costs that we have to carry, and to fund events like we're doing in September," Jason Maclennan, media coordinator, North Bay Pride told CKAT.

The golden lager offers a toasty malt backbone with grassy and floral notes from the hops.

“We are strong allies with the community, and we try to find ways to give back and collaborate with organizations like North Bay Pride," said Sully Sullivan from Gateway City Brewery in a release.

"We believe in equality for all and that is what Pride stands for. We recognize it takes work to become a safer space for all and that we cannot just throw up a sticker to say we are. We work with organizations to learn how to be inclusive to everyone no matter who you are. Therefore, it is so important to give back to North Bay Pride.

Sullivan says 50 cents from every can of Real Love beer sold will go to North Bay Pride.

Maclennan says collaborations like this are vital. He points out that Gateway City Brewery is also asking questions about becoming a safer space, with North Bay Pride able to direct them towards training which is now available through the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area.

"It's really important to recognize that you can't just put up a sticker and say you're a safe space without actually getting the details behind that and businesses and organizations like Gateway City Brewery are doing that and asking us, and we make sure that we direct them to the right people, and we collaborate on how do we raise money," Maclennan says.

North Bay Pride is being held virtually in September, with a talent show on the 18th, a concert on the 19th and the 20th is expected to be geared towards to family.
