More trouble for swollen rivers and creeks in our area.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for:
- North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa,
- Témiscaming area, Que
- South River - Burk's Falls,
- Huntsville - Baysville,
- Parry Sound - Muskoka
- Deep River - Whitney - Eastern Algonquin Park.
Rain, heavy at times is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.
The rain will move into Central and Eastern Ontario overnight and continue into Friday evening. Total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 millimetres are forecast by late Friday night. Local amounts exceeding 50 mm are possible.
Flooding is already affecting much of Central and Eastern Ontario. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
This heavy rain is associated with a Texas low that will track across Southern Ontario on Friday.
Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
