Just ten days into the New Year and All Heart Pet Rescue has taken in an abandoned puppy.
Kathy Jeanneault, the Powassan owner of All Heart Pet Rescue, says the puppy (a black lab mix) was left in a garage in the home of F. Goulais the Animal Control Officer for the Garden Village Reserve. Goulais contacted Jeanneault on Sunday saying that he went into his garage and there sat the shivering young black lab mixed pup in a corner. Feces was frozen therefore it was undetermined how long the pup had been in there.
The pup named 'Chilly' by Jeanneault is doing quite well. He is still passing a lot of bird seed/food from his system, but is looking lively and well otherwise.
"He was obviously left to fend for himself and a bag of bird food did the job," she notes.
"He will be looked over by a veteranarian, vaccinated, dewormed then put up for adoption."
Chilly is one of many lucky animals to come through the doors of the pet rescue since it opened in 1999.
