At a special Board meeting held on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 the Near North District School Board ratified an agreement with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1165-1. This local represents approximately 130 office, clerical and technical employees with the school district. The term of the agreement is from September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2006.

In other Board business, several of “Terms of Employment” were approved with the Board. With the conclusion of these deliberations the Board has contracts or approved ‘terms of employment’ with all of its employee groups. While there will be some bargaining activity in the coming year the majority of this work is has been concluded. As a result, all parties will be free to pursue the ENDS and goals of the Board while working together to seek improvements in other labour matters.
