Local Liberal incumbent Anthony Rota had some support when he was knocking on doors trying to get support for the upcoming federal election.

He was joined by provincial Liberal leadership candidate Steven Del Duca who visited North Bay on Monday.

Del Duca has been campaigning with more than 40 federal Liberal candidates in preparation for the October Federal Election.

He says electing candidates like Rota is key for the province and the country.

"We have to make sure Andrew Sheer doesn't destroy Canada the way that Doug Ford is destroying Ontario," said Del Duca to CKAT's Bob Coles.

"I have no confidence in Ford leading the province in the right direction."

Del Duca believes cuts in education are just one example.

“Class sizes are going up. Course selections are being limited. We know from past experience that graduation rates will drop and test scores will go down. It’s moving Ontario in the wrong direction,” he said.

The Federal Election takes place on October 21.
