Premier Kathleen Wynne will visit North Bay this coming week as part of a northern tour.

During her six day trip, Wynne will also be visiting Sudbury, Blind River, Sault Ste. Marie, Batchawana Bay, Wawa, Fort Frances, Emo, Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Moosonee, Moose Factory, New Liskeard, and Kirkland Lake.

An advance planning team will be in North Bay on Thursday for the Friday visit, and there will be an announcement that morning, Jean-Simon Farrah with the Premier's media office told BayToday.

"Wynne will visit schools, hospitals, businesses, Indigenous communities and other groups across Northern Ontario from August 6 to 12 to listen to local ideas and highlight how the government is supporting economic growth and job creation in the North," says a government news release.

"During the week, the Premier will announce a series of investments relating to infrastructure, health care and other measures to enhance public services and help accelerate economic growth in existing and emerging sectors. She will also meet with people from organizations across the North to discuss how the government can help ensure that people in every corner of Ontario prosper and have the opportunity to achieve their full potential."

Wynne will be spending the day in Sudbury today the first stop on a six day visit around Northern Ontario.

During the week, the Premier will be announcing a series of investments relating to infrastructure, health care and other measures to enhance public services.

Wynne will start her day in Sudbury at Landry Farm in Hanmer where she will be joined by Ministers Marie-France Lalonde, Eleanor McMahon, and Glenn Thibeault for an announcement.

The Premier will deliver remarks at a community BBQ hosted by Glenn Thubeault at the Royal Canadian Branch 76 in the afternoon before she makes her way to the newly opened Northern Water Sports Centre.

While at the centre, Wynne and the ministers will take part in a paddle on Ramsey Lake.

Wynne closes her day by participating in a grand entry at the Chi Pow Wow at the Laurentian University athletic track at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 7, Wynne will be spending the morning in Espanola, before travelling to the Manitoulin Country Fest in Little Current. She will also make stops at Miners Memorial Park and Westview Park in Elliot Lake.

A detailed agenda will be announced Thursday.
