Premier Kathleen Wynne is expected to be greeted by protesters when she arrives at the Education Centre tomorrow afternoon to speak with students from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Education Centre.

Wynne will participate in a tour of Nipissing University and Canadore College at 3 p.m.

It's part of her post-secondary institutions tour that kicked off yesterday at OCAD University in Toronto.

Northern Ontario Party leader Trevor Holliday says he and a number of supporters will be in the crowd.

"She's not meeting or greeting anyone but it's one of those things where she needs to know our presence," Holliday told BayToday by phone. "It will be more than just me. There's a whole bunch of people that have already started to put together a rally because she doesn't want to talk to anyone except students so people are upset."

Editor's note: BayToday has been granted a one on one interview with Premier Wynne after she meets with the students.

Meanwhile, locked out Children's Aid Society workers says they'll also try and get the Premier's attention.

"We're definitely going to be at the campus tomorrow. We're really hoping that we'll draw the Premier's attention and we're certainly going to be appealing to see if there is any way she might step in and offer us some assistance to get us back to the table and back to work. That's our goal for tomorrow."

It's expected that a separate area will be cordoned off for demonstrators.

Holliday says Wynne is nervous again about the NOP uniting Northern Ontarians pointing to three events.

  • NOP certified as official by Elections Ontario - six days later Wynne announces a Northern tour.
  • NOP announces tour - days later Wynne announces funding to a few northern communities.
  • NOP announce riding meetings for the first time ever in North Bay and Sault Ste Marie  - seven days later the are surprise last minute visits to North Bay and the Sault.

Holliday says he's tired of seeing "the money being wasted by Wynne to react to the Northern Ontario Party. She does not want to hear from the families and those affected by her ignorance and colonization of Northern Ontario.

"It is time to drop the wasteful spending and disrespect for Northern Ontarians. Obviously the NOP is making you nervous unlike the province of Toronto, Northern Ontario is tired of your games, lies and criminal acts."
