Mason Primeau is heading to Vegas.

The North Bay Battalion forward was selected in the fifth round, 141st overall by the Vegas Golden Knights at the NHL Entry Draft taking place in Vancouver, B.C. this weekend.

"He is a big guy that can skate and shoot," stated Karl Stewart from the NHL Central Scouting in his assessment of Primeau.

"He likes to take it right to the net."

Primeau told BayToday's Kortney Kenney that he was not going to attend the draft but instead watch from home.

“You look forward to it for all of your life, but you’re not too sure of what to expect," Primeau said earlier in the week.

"For me, I’m just trying to keep to my routine and work outs, wait until Saturday and hope for the best.”

Primeau, the son of former NHLer Wayne Primeau, was ranked 113 overall by NHL Central Scouting for North American players, the six foot five forward who wears number 19 for the boys in green, was acquired from the Guelph Storm in a mid season trade on November 15th, 2018.

After the trade, Primeau caught fire and finished with 10 goals, 16 assists, good for 26 points in 49 games played. In the 20 games before the trade, Primeau had only 7 points.

Primeau is the first Battalion player to be selected in the NHL Entry Draft since 2016 when Cam Dineen, Mark Shoemaker and Brett McKenzie were selected at the event that summer in Buffalo, New York.
