Prescription Drugs Drop-off Day coming up

It’s time to spring clean your medicine cabinets! The fifth annual Prescription Drugs Drop-off Day will take place at Shoppers Drug Mart at 2025 Cassells Street in North Bay on Saturday, May 13th.

You can drop-off unused or expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, herbal supplements on this day for safe disposal.

Saturday May 13th, 

9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Shoppers Drug Mart, Cassells Street

You can also drop-off unused or expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, herbal supplements to any pharmacy for safe disposal any day of the year.

This event is organized by the Ontario Injury Prevention Centre, a public health resource centre operated by Parachute Canada, and the Nipissing-Parry Sound Stay on Your Feet Coalition, with the support of the North Bay Police Service and the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

The goals of Prescription Drop-off Day are:

  • to promote the safe storage and disposal of prescription, over-the-counter and other drugs;
  • to reduce the number of drugs that are available in people’s homes;
  • to reduce the environmental impact associated with the inappropriate disposal of these drugs in the garbage and sewer systems; and
  • to increase awareness that unused or expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins and herbal supplements can be returned to any pharmacy for safe disposal any day of the year.

About the Stay on Your Feet Coalition

Every day older adults fall and need medical attention. In fact, one in three older adults 65+ fall each year, even though falls are preventable.

The Stay on your Feet Coalition supports healthy active aging for older adults. The goal of the coalition is to help older adults stay active, stay independent and stay on their feet.
