People's Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier will be visiting North Bay on the long weekend.

The Nipissing-Timiskaming PPC Association announced Monday morning that PPC leader Maxime Bernier is coming to North Bay.

On Sunday, August 1 at 1 p.m. Bernier and local PPC candidate Greg Galante are expected to attend a rally at Lee Park.

The event is part of the PPC leaders tour across Canada where he has addressed issues such as lockdowns due to COVID-19 as well as pushing the new parties agenda with an election possibly taking place this fall.

Bernier, a former cabinet minister under Stephen Harper, made news in June when he was arrested for breaching public health issues on a visit to Manitoba in mid-June.
