Powassan mayor's wife dies in highway accident

A motor vehicle collision along Hwy 17 has left the wife of Powassan's mayor dead.

Anne Young, wife of Powassan mayor Bob Young, died in the crash, the Ontario Provincial Police confirmed.

The OPP say charges against the driver of the tractor trailer are pending.

Fatal Motor Vehicle accident claims life of Powassan woman

(Noelville, Ont)
Noelville OPP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident on Hwy 17, between Verner and Warren.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:05 a.m. this morning and involved a tractor trailer unit and a 2000 Chrysler.

Anne Young, 54, of Powassan, died as a result of her injuries sustained in the accident.

A passenger of the Young vehicle has been taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the transport truck sustained minor injuries.

A technical traffic accident investigator was on scene, and assisted in the determination of the cause of the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
