City police are warning that between March 11th and 17th, a woman approximately 5’6” tall, thin build, blonde hair, blue eyes has approached members of the public on Main Street as well as the Northgate Shopping Centre, asking for help in cashing cheques.
She tells her victims that she is new to North Bay and has lost her wallet.
Cheques have been deposited and money was given to the woman but the cheques are fraudulent.
"There have been numerous similar occurrences in the area over the last few weeks," warns Staff Sergeant Richard Dubeau.
