A 33-year-old North Bay man is facing one count of theft after police responded to a theft complaint around 3 a.m. this morning in the Widdifield area on the north end of the city.

It’s alleged a witness saw a man rummaging through his vehicle. The complainant then called police and the responding officer located the suspect by following his tracks in the fresh snow.   Police say the accused was arrested in the Ski Club Road area.

Police seized several items as a result of searching the accused.

Ryan Plausteiner, 33 of North Bay is charged with one count of theft.  He was released from custody and will appear in court on April 30th.

Anyone with information that may assist police with this investigation is asked to call the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and select option 9 to speak to a police officer. Constable Hughes is the Investigating Officer.

North Bay Police remind the public that it is spring and with the melting of the snow, it also makes it easier for people to access your vehicle.

Police say this incident identifies the need for residents to lock their vehicles and to not store valuable items in your vehicle.
