Police stats show drug charges down

It shows that drug charges went from 159 year-to-date in 2017 down to 121 this year

Statistics released by the North Bay Police Service show that, as of Nov. 30, 2017, drug charges have dropped over the previous year.

The November report, the latest available, is part of the information given to the police board at its monthly meeting.

It shows that drug charges went from 159 year-to-date in 2017 down to 121 this year.

Assaults are also down, from 400 in 2016 to 368 in 2017.

And while calls for service increased (24,810 in 2017, 24,115 in 2016) the number of criminal offences actually dropped from 3,223 in 2016 to 3,012 by the end of November 2017.

Year-end stats are expected to be available at the board's February meeting.
