Members of the North Bay Police Service arrested and charged two men with drug trafficking offenses in connection to the seizure of drugs with a street value of as much as $40,000 on Tuesday, November 9.
Police say the investigation took place around 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday night as members of the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit and NBPS patrol attempted to stop the accused outside a residence on Algonquin Avenue, North Bay.
Police say both of the accused fled on foot and, after a foot pursuit, both accused were arrested.
Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 56 grams of suspected purple fentanyl
- Approximately 82 grams of suspected cocaine
- Approximately $63 in Canadian currency
- Four cellular phones
Roy Gouviea, male, age 20 of Toronto, also known by the alias “Kobe,” is charged with:
- One count of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- One count of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- One count of Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Dante Robinson, male, age 23 of Toronto, who is charged with:
- One count of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- One count of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- One count of Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused are being held pending a show cause hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
