The North Bay Police Service would like to request the assistance of the public. On Aug. 11 at approximately 9:20 AM a motor vehicle collision took place at the intersection of Cassells Street and Chippewa Street. This involved a blue station wagon and a blue Pontiac Sunfire. Information on what occurred is conflicting and Cst. Mark McLeod, the investigating officer, is requesting any witnesses to contact him.

It appears that a grey van was behind the Sunfire and the officer wishes to ask the driver what occurred. He can be reached at 497-5555.

Here is the rest of this morning's police report:

BREAK-IN AND STOLEN VEHICLE
On Aug. 18 neighbours saw two males near cottages in the 1100 block of Northshore Road. They were challenged and city police were called. The youths fled, and when Cst. Paul Brewer arrived he saw that two cottages had been entered, and that a stolen vehicle from Barrie had been abandoned in the ditch nearby. Police also noticed a vehicle with plates registered to a different vehicle. The plates had been stolen from Four Mile Lake Road, and investigators believe that the vehicle itself may have been stolen from the Ferris area. All of this information was passed on to police agencies within this area of the province.

Later the Ontario Provincial Police in Espanola stopped a stolen vehicle and arrested the occupants. Investigators believe that all of these occurrences are related.

Anyone with information on this crime or any other is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 476-8477.
