'I am confident that this one-sided account of what is being alleged is totally inaccurate and a misrepresentation of the facts as they transpired on that day'

A bizarre video of a man who appears to be buying drugs and then leaving a downtown residence to jump into a police car has created a stir through social media this weekend and early into this week.

The video shows an individual in a North Bay residence, picking up some drugs, which the buyer says are cocaine shards.

He then puts them into his pocket wrapped in tin foil and plastic, and then runs downstairs and out the front door.

The camera continues to follow him leaving the house and cell phone video clearly shows him jumping into the back seat of a North Bay police cruiser, which then drives away down the street much to the surprise of the man taking the video.

“Suspicious, it looks very suspicious,” the videographer says while the man gets into the back of the police car.

“Yes, you really did just see that,” the cameraman says while the police car drives away down the street.

“That is definitely suspect and I am definitely putting this on Facebook,” he continues.

Sources say the man was also dropped off at the home by the same police cruiser.

Police Chief Shawn Devine released a statement about the controversial viral video Monday afternoon.

“The North Bay Police Service is currently investigating the contents of a video that was posted on Facebook,” stated Devine in a release.

“Although the contents of the video appear concerning on its surface, I am confident that this one-sided account of what is being alleged is totally inaccurate and a misrepresentation of the facts as they transpired on that day,” added Devine.

Devine says they are awaiting further details from investigators and he will speak more on the incident upon completion of the investigation.

The video was originally sent to BayToday.ca from the North Bay Anonymous Facebook page.
