Greater Sudbury Police have charged two people for operating an illegal cannabis dispensary in Capreol, following a raid Wednesday.

"Cannabis Compliance/Enforcement officers from the Criminal Investigative Division attended the Capreol Medical Cannabis Center located at 12b Young St. in Capreol to conduct a compliance check," police said in the release. "Upon entering the aforementioned retail establishment, a 28-year-old male salesperson was in the process of selling various strands of cannabis to two young males."

The two plainclothes officers stopped the transaction and arrested the male salesperson for possession of cannabis for the purpose of sale, under the new Federal Cannabis Act. 

Not long after the first arrest, the 34-year-old female owner of the storefront arrived and she faces the same charge.

Approximate street value of drugs seized is $21,773.90 and includes:

-- Dried cannabis marijuana bud – 1896.63 grams, (value $18,966.30) 

-- Cannabis hash – 47.76 grams, (value $477.60) 

-- Cannabis edibles – 60 packages, (value ($1,200) 

-- THC oil 1,000 mg – 2 bottles, (value $120) 

-- THC oil 500 mg – 2 bottles, (value $60)

-- CBD / THC oil 500 mg – 7 bottles, (value $210) 

-- CBD oil 1000 mg – 7 bottles, (value $420) 

-- CBD oil 500 mg – 9 bottles, (value $270)

-- CBD cream 300 mg – 2 containers, (value $50) 

-- Three digital scales and Canadian currency ($467.30) 

"This investigation is continuing," the release said. "The public is reminded that legal cannabis and only obtained through the provincial government online ordering process, any other source of cannabis is illegal.

"In addition, any form of CBD products (oils or edibles) is also illegal to purchase or sell."
