BayToday is receiving reports from residents of Mattawa concerned about OPP swat teams in the town and it appears one man has turned himself in to police while another was arrested.
There have apparently been two separate police actions, the first one was in Calvin township on Wednesday afternoon and another Thursday apparently unrelated.
"When I turned onto boundary road to come home there was police everywhere down the road, police dressed in camo searching fields and the bushes, I pulled into my driveway police came out of the bushes in my back yard, helicopter circling the area low, K-9 unit searching everywhere," said a witness.
"Then yesterday (Thursday) evening In town on Valois Drive police had the highway closed and a house surrounded with the swat team and guns. It was a domestic dispute and apparently the guy left the house punching a window and left with his gun so they were looking again with the K-9 unit."
That man was arrested Friday morning, says the witness.
OPP have been slow to release information but said Friday that a news release will be issued. As of Saturday afternoon no release was forthcoming.
