A car owner on Highway 17 W was lucky an OPP officer was driving by on patrol Thursday.

The officer from the Manitoulin Detachment was on patrol in the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers.

Just after noon, the officer saw a vehicle stuck on a railway line crossing into a private drive-way. The officer immediately radioed in a stop train order with the Huron Central Railway, and then helped push the vehicle off the tracks.

There were no injuries and the rail line was opened shortly after the removal of the vehicle.

If you are stuck on railway tracks, leave your vehicle quickly, remain clear of the tracks, and immediately call 9-1-1 to report it.
