In the early morning hours of July 29th 2018 North Bay Police responded to an alarm at a business in the Cassells Street and Chippewa Street area of North Bay.

Later that day police were investigating a theft occurrence from a store in North Bay and it was determined that the accused in the theft was also responsible for the Break and Enter.

As a result of the investigation; Calvin Larondeau, aged 30, of North Bay has been arrested and charged with:

  • One count of Break, Enter and theft
  • One count of Mischief under $5000
  • One count of Theft Under $5000
  • One count of Possession of Break and Enter Instruments
  • One count of Breaching Probation

Police allege that on the July 29th, the accused attended a store on Cassells Street and selected certain items and left the store without paying for the items. An employee of the store contacted the police and advised of a theft.

Following the investigation, the accused was located in close proximity to the location and arrested. A search of the accused revealed he was in possession of break-in tools. The property from the theft was also recovered.

It had been determined that the accused was responsible for the break and enter that had occurred early that day through surveillance footage that was installed by the business.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in relation to the charges on July 30th.

The North Bay Police remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment.

“Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings,’ stated John Schultz, Community Safety Coordinator for the North Bay Police Service.
