UPDATE: Names released of deceased Police investigating a house fire in Mattawa

The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived but the fire was extinguished

3 p.m. update, Tues. Sept. 5:

The Mattawa Detachment of the OPP, OPP Forensic Investigation Services, the North Bay Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal have concluded their investigations into a fatal house fire in Mattawa from September 2. No foul play is suspected. 

The deceased persons have been identified as Billy King, 74, and Roxanne Ladouceur, 47, both of Mattawa.

A post-mortem examination was conducted in Toronto earlier today. 

5 p.m. update, Sunday, Sept. 3:

Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) today released a statement saying two people were found deceased in a residence that was consumed by fire early Saturday morning in Mattawa.

The residence contained three separate units, report police, and the bodies were located after firefighters extinguished the blaze.

When members of the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Mattawa Fire Department and the Papineau-Cameron Township Fire Department arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed

Original story 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2:  

Early this morning at 1:11 a.m. Mattawa OPP officers along with the Mattawa Fire Department and the Papineau-Cameron Township Fire Department responded to a house fire in Mattawa.

The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived but the fire was extinguished.

The Mattawa OPP, the North Bay Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal are conducting an investigation into this house fire.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
