Police communications job still vacant

'I have to say it has been a real loss for our organization as far as corporate communications so we will be looking at filling that position in September'

North Bay Police Chief Shawn Devine says summer holidays have helped stall the process of replacing Corporate Communications Director Marie Lugli, who resigned from the position in the spring.

“In our organization, we have the ‘Tsunami’ of vacation in the summer time which was not going to allow us to do a quality job of putting the applications out so it will be internal and then we possibly will be going to the outside with that for other applications,” stated Devine who commented about the job opening at a officer swearing-in ceremony on Friday.

Lugli, took over the newly created position back in 2015, and moved away to take on a new position in Ottawa.

“I have to say it has been a real loss for our organization as far as corporate communications so we will be looking at filling that position in September,” he said.

Devine says they will start that process in September in hopes of having the new person in place by November or December of 2017.

The police service isn’t the only municipal department with a communications void to be filled.

Back in the spring, the city lost its communications officer when Jacklyn Bucik resigned.  That position has yet to be filled as well.

See that story: That didn’t last long.  City’s communication officer resigns
