Police arrest man with knife outside social services agency

North Bay Police have arrested a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman on drug trafficking and weapon charges.  

On December 4, at 12:15 p.m.officers responded to a report of a man brandishing a knife outside a social services agency on Ferguson Street.

When police arrived the two had already fled the area in a vehicle. They were stopped at the intersection of Lansdowne Avenue and Galt Street and were arrested and charged.  

Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:

  • 63 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine
  • 5 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Drug trafficking equipment
  • cash
  • a knife

Police estimate the street value of the drugs at $5,000.

Samantha Faye King, 33, of North Bay, is charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking  

Jason Robert Laperriere, 35, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Laperriere was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse. King was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the court on January 10, 2023.
