North Bay's Colton Point will not become a free agent today as the National Hockey League free agent season opens up today.
Point was among seven Dallas Stars restricted free agent prospects that were issued qualifying offers from the organization.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound former North Bay AAA Trappers goalie was originally selected by Dallas in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.

The 23-year-old had a strong finish to the season with the AHL's Texas Stars finishing the season with a 3.08 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.
Point also dressed as a backup for two Dallas Stars games in mid-March of 2021.
He has yet to play his first regular-season National Hockey League game.
