Yesterday at 2:42 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police, Britt and Area Fire Department, Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre responded to reports of a downed aircraft south of Marjory Island on the waters of Georgian Bay.

Investigation has since revealed that a small float plane went down, believed to have been engaged in its take off sequence.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre deployed a vessel to the area of the aircraft.

The lone male occupant was located and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board has been contacted and is assisting in the investigation.
