Pedestrian traffic detoured at Chippewa Creek bridge reconstruction

Work to replace the Chippewa Creek Bridge on Cassells Street is now underway

Pedestrians walking along Cassells St. will get a little extra exercise this summer.

Work to replace the Chippewa Creek Bridge on Cassells Street (between Chippewa Street and Aubrey Street) is now underway.

As a result, pedestrian traffic on Cassells Street will be detoured around the construction site onto Chippewa Street, High Street and Olive Street until approximately late September.

The project is four weeks behind due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The work includes sewers, watermain, road base, curbs, sidewalks, asphalt paving, Chippewa Creek Bridge, and other ancillary work from King Street to the bypass.

The project was originally slated for completion this year, but, as a result of the delay, some works will now be finished off in the spring and summer of 2021.
