A pedestrian was hit crossing against the light yesterday at McIntyre St. W. and Fraser Street.

North Bay Police arrived at the scene of the accident that took place shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday.

A 95-year old female pedestrian was struck by a car while she was crossing McIntyre.

Following an investigation, police say that the woman did not have the right-of-way while she was crossing, and she failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

No charges were laid.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rules of the Road

The North Bay Police Service reminds residents that it is up to both drivers and pedestrians to keep everyone safe on our roads.

For Pedestrians

  • For your own safety, cross only at marked crosswalks, at traffic lights or at intersections.
  • Avoid crossing in the middle of the block or between parked cars. Drivers may not see you when you do this and you risk getting hit.
  • Make sure drivers see you before you cross. If the driver is stopped, make eye contact before you step into the road.
  • Wear bright or light-coloured clothing or reflective strips, especially at dusk or when it's dark
