Pedestrian dies after being struck near Burk's Falls

An Armour Township woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Perry Township, near Burk's Falls say police.

The accident happened Monday, July 15, at approximately 8:40 p.m.

Heidi Lynn Slessor, a 34-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

  As a result of the investigation, Thomas Stevens, 26, from Perry Township, has been charged with:

  • Operation causing death, 
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand - death.

Stevens is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing tomorrow in Parry Sound.. 

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services and the Regional Support Team under the direction of Detective Inspector Laura Houliston of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch..
