Parry Sound the hotspot as eight new COVID cases reported

There are no new cases in the North Bay District

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reports eight new cases today, all in the Parry Sound District. It brings to 379 the total cases since the pandemic started.

There are 28 active cases and 25 of those are in Parry Sound District.

There are no new cases in the North Bay District.

Overall, 48,991 people have had at least one dose of vaccine, representing 45 per cent of the adult population.

The Health Unit has revealed how it is getting rid of vaccines that are unused at their clinics around the region. Andrea McLellan, Director of COVID-19 Immunization Strategy, says they have a process where they are reaching out to organizations that have employees within the priority groups the Unit is focusing clinics on.

The Timiskaming Health Unit reports 10 active cases.

The Sudbury Health Unit reports three new cases, and 88 active cases.

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit reports 71 new cases, with 906 active cases. Thirty-two people are currently in hospital and 231 people have died. Young adults (18-34 years) have had the highest rates of infection since February, 2021.
