A local man has been charged after drugs were seized following a fight in a parking lot.
Police say that shortly after 11 p.m. on December 4, they were called to a residential parking lot on McNamara Street, North Bay as a brawl was occurring between several men.
Police investigation identified a residence that one man had entered. Once identified, police found he had an outstanding warrant for arrest. Following his arrest a search revealed 11.6 grams of suspected purple fentanyl valued at $7,550.
Police seized the illicit drugs and charged Kyle Pitre, 33, of North Bay.
Pitre is charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- Breach of probation.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing today.
The Community Drug Strategy North Bay & Area Committee advises people battling addictions who use street-level drugs should take safety precautions;
- use small doses
- never use alone, always have a friend present
- have a Naloxone supply readily available in case of overdose (a drug that temporarily reverses the overdose effects of opioids and is available free at pharmacies and the Health Unit)
